The Sheth Distinguished International Alumni Award, established in 2002 by the generous gift of Madhu and Jagdish Sheth, Charles H. Kellstadt Professor of Marketing, seeks to recognize Emory University's international alumni who have distinguished themselves in service to universities, governments, private sector firms and/or nongovernmental organizations. Selection criteria for the Sheth Award include:
The nominee should have been an international student while at Emory and at the time of graduation (i.e. here on a visa).
The recipient must be highly distinguished in his/her business, profession, or life's work, either internationally or nationally in his/her own country.
The recipient must be of such stature and fame that students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Emory University will take pride in and be inspired by his/her recognition.
The recipient must be an individual who has helped his/her country or the world population by outstanding contributions to humanity, science, art, or human welfare.
The recipient must be an individual who in deed or in action reflects the importance of his/her education at Emory University.
Recipients of the award are chosen upon the recommendation of a special selection committee appointed and chaired by the Provost. Nominations are held in a pool for five years, though letters refreshing nomination are welcomed. A nomination form follows. Nominations are accepted throughout the year.
